An early Saturday morning accident on the Nairobi Expressway caused a massive traffic jam that lasted for hours and stretched for kilometers. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes after a trailer overturned on the busy road, blocking city-bound traffic.
The accident, which occurred at 7 am and involved a trailer headed for Uganda, prompted a swift response from the police. A crane was brought to the scene near Panari Hotel to clear the blockage. By 9:50 am, the road was cleared. Authorities are investigating the cause of the trailer’s overturning, which remains unclear.
The Nairobi Expressway is a crucial link that helps manage traffic flow to and from the city. Meanwhile, at least 13 pupils from a primary school in Kwale were injured when their bus was involved in an accident along Kidimu-Majoreni-Vanga Road.
The bus, carrying around 95 pupils from Majoreni Primary and Junior Secondary schools, overturned at about 6 pm on July 5. The students were returning home after attending inter-school games. The injured pupils sustained injuries to their hands, chests, legs, and heads and were admitted to Msambweni Referral Hospital in stable condition.
Police are investigating the incident, and the bus has been towed to Lungalunga police station for inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.
