Controversial dancehall artist, business mogul, and content creator KRG the Don is criticizing those responsible for leaking his personal phone number, suggesting they hoped he would face harassment from the public.
The father of three recently faced criticism for his outspoken support of the proposed Finance Bill 2024, which many Kenyans strongly opposed due to its potential financial burden. The bill sparked nationwide protests for three weeks, even after President William Ruto declined to sign it following its passage by Parliament.
In an interview with 2Mbili, KRG shared that he received numerous messages and calls after his number was leaked online, though contrary to expectations, he received mostly positive messages. “I received your greetings with joy… some were really nice. But I am a people person, and all those who called and heard it was Bughaa were really happy… we exchanged stories, and none of them said anything to insult me if that’s what some may have expected,” the artist said warmly, emphasizing that he is well-regarded despite efforts to tarnish his reputation.
Explaining his support for the controversial bill despite public outcry and its punitive clauses, KRG argued he was considering the broader benefits in the long term. “I supported this because I saw that we would suffer for another year, but after that, we would have paid off many debts,” he candidly explained.
He maintained his opposition to the street protests, valuing human life above all and rejecting the idea of sacrificing life for any cause, even in the face of challenging economic circumstances. “I saw no need to spill blood because life is something you cannot recover no matter how much money,” he added.
Dismissing those willing to die for a cause, KRG emphasized, “I cannot send anyone’s child to die for anything in this country. Let alone governance, it has not reached the point where people should sacrifice themselves, even if life is tough.”
