187 protesters arrested on Tuesday will be released on bond, according to the LSK.

All 187 protesters arrested during Tuesday’s anti-government demonstrations, including children, will be released on bond. Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo stated that those detained were brought before the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday to face various charges.

The adults were each granted a bond of Ksh.50,000 and will be released after providing family and relative details.

“The court has granted each of the children arrested a personal bond of Ksh. 10,000 and has ordered that they be held at Capitol Hill police station separate from the adults as they provide details of their parents in accordance with the bond terms,” Odhiambo wrote on X.

The court also directed the police to provide details of all arrested individuals by 10 am to prevent delays in their release, even after court orders have been issued.

The case will be mentioned today, Thursday, for further instructions on how to protect the children, as many are orphaned street children.

Tuesday’s protests turned violent when suspected goons infiltrated the peaceful march, causing significant property damage along Tom Mboya Avenue in the city’s capital. Protesters are set to take to the streets again today.
